Intaglio #1

I have come to inherit my grandfathers items when he passed. I am very new to this, but would love some help. If you have any info on what you think this might be can you please help? Thanks! This looks like it was a Roman ring about 2.5 cm in width. I don't know anything more though.

Typical Roman intaglio in an iron (?) ring.

Not sure exactly who is portrayed.  Looks female, but looks like she holds a winged caduceus - usually an attribute of Mercury.  Not sure what is in her left hand.  Also looks a bit like a purse which Mercury often holds.

Yes, it represents Hermes/Mercury, holding a caduceus in left hand and a purse in right hand.
