Tetricus I reverse VIRTVS

This has been cruelly stripped - not by me - but the interest is in the reverse, which is an exact mirror image of what it's supposed to be. Not only is the inscription reversed, but Virtus faces right where she's supposed to face left. Despite the good style, I don't suppose for a moment that it's an official issue!

Mirror image for Tetricus, yes, but Virtus standing right exists for Victorinus, so it's not totally wrong. Neat coin, tough!

Except the figure on the Victorinus coin is nude! It's his Virtus left which has a similar clothed figure, which Tetricus peresumably copied.

Yes, but it's not uncommon for a barb to mix up types.

Of course, but you're introducing a second error when one will do to explain what's on the coin.

Oh, I just wanted to point out that there is a right facing Virtus on gallic ants. I don't think barbs can be studied extensively anyway, although I know that there is a book in work.

I realised that, but I'm a great disciple of William of Ockham.
