A strange Traianus
« on: November 09, 2005, 04:35:04 pm »
Hi to all

As it is possible that a sesterzio of Traianus has done with the physiognomy of Nervae?

Some opinion?

Thanks

The early portraits of Trajan often look similar to Nerva.

The portrait does not look like Trajan at all. They must have not had a sample to go by early on so kept using the old Nerva image. I have seen others like this. Very interesting.

Yes, I've been caught out this way in the past until my mistake was pointed out to me.
