Constantinus diademed, Antioch
« on: June 06, 2023, 11:45:57 am »
Hello,

I think this coin is with bust E2 of RIC VII (Antioch) therefore RIC 78. What is your opinion about the diadem? Rosette diadem?

Rather RIC VII ANTIOCH 81. I see the remaining of dot in the doorway.

So you see like me diadem rosette?

Yes. Not laurel wreath for sure. And other type of diadem probably does not exist for this emission. I believe that bust on ANTIOCH 79 should be also treated as E2. I do not like such vague distinctions which ends as a matter of opinion.

Yes, definitely a wreath. It is just more squarish than other mints.

Yes, definitely a wreath.

You really mean it or it is just a slip?

Sorry slip - meant to reinforce your answer - should have been "Yes, definitely a diadem."
