Clodius Albinus Augustus

(1/3) > >>

mix_val:
Don't have much experience with Clodius.  My attribution,
Obverse: IMP CAE D CLO SEP ALB AVG Laureate head right, seems to be lines of drapery on left shoulder
Reverse: SAECVLI FEL COS II Felicitas standing, head left, holding caduceus in right and branch in left

Suppose to be BMC 275-276, RIC 38, C 64 but no mention of drapery

Akropolis:
The image is a bit washed-out, but the coin looks suspicious to me. Possibly cast.

I'll try to tone down the photo so it's not so washed out.  Still learning.
Don't think that it's a cast as there are no obvious signs.   The style is crude but that is what is seen with the denarii of Clodius as augustus.

The fact that you seem to have bought it unattributed alone is VERY suspicious.

I guess getting the coin expertised is the only way to answer this.   Buying from a reputable dealer or auction house is certainly wiser and I usually do this for my expensive purchases.  I bought this on ebay a couple of years ago and lost track of the attribution.
