Licinius II VIRTVS EXERCIT

(1/1)

Robert_Brenchley:
The exe on this is delta SIS star, with S in left field and F above H/L ligate in right. As far as I can see,  RIC only lists this issue with the obverse inscription LICINIVS IVN NOB CAES with an I1 bust; laureate and draped, and holding a mappa in the L hand. This one is laureate and cuirassed, with nothing that I can see in the L hand. Am I missing something?

vic9128:
there is a mappa in the left hand, it is just hard to make out.

Robert_Brenchley:
There could be, I wasn't sure. But it's definitely cuirassed! I'm not sure whether that's intended as an eagle or an aegis on the breast.

newbeonecoinobe:
Robert it looks like from Helveticas' ss "Licinius II   LICI-NIVS IVN NOB CAES
I1 left   VIRTVS-EXERCIT
Delta SIS*   S F over HL Siscia RIC VII Siscia 125
r4 follis   320

And Nice coin by the way
Pete

Robert_Brenchley:
That's the closest I can get, except that an I1 bust is laureate and draped. This is laureate (the hair is clearly visible in the hand) and cuirassed.
