Macrinus Moushmov 1265

(1/1)

Geert C:
Hello,

One of my nicest coins. Hope my determination is exact.

Macrinus 217 - 218 A.D.;
obverse AYT K M OΠEΛ CEY MAKPEINOC, laureate head right;
reverse VΠ CTATI ΛONΓINOV NIKOΠOΛITΩN ΠPOC ? (cant find out what the letter after POC is)
CTP▲ (last four letters in exergue), Nemesis-Dikaiosyne (Aequitas) standing slightly left, head left, scales in right hand, goad in left hand, wheel at feet left

Questions :
1. what is the letter after  ΠPOC  (on obverse) ?
2. exergue : CTPdelta - I only found CTPomega - is that a difference in determination number?

Thanks in advance,

Geert

Geert C:
Hello Pekka,

Thanks for your reply.
the obverse on my coin is then : AVT K M OPELLI CEVH - MAKREINOC (you can see the part of the H after the V )
So is the reference not correct? (moushmov 1265)
I see this is rather a scarce coin, but most Macrinus are.
Thx a lot,
Geert

Hi GC,

Has the obverse of your coin been tooled?

Meepzorp

Geert C:
Hello Meepzorp,

No, no tooling at all, just a very nice natural green patina
