VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP problem
« on: May 11, 2022, 08:21:22 am »
Dear Members

i identified this coin as
RIC VII Ticinum 83
obv:IMP CONSTANT-INVS AVG
rev:VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP
VOT PR
PT
the issue i have is although this is the closest id to my coin, i was not able to find the exact obverse
on the coin its IMP CONSTANTI-NVS AVG, there seem to be no other RIC reference which would fit to my coin
am i missing something here or it is an unlisted obverse break?
thanks
Csaba

Your identification is correct: RIC VII TICINUM 83

Obverse legend break is slightly different but it does not make a separate number in RIC (however, RIC is not absolutely consistent in this case). In my opinion, the legends breaks given in RIC should be considered as examples and not as a complete catalog. Sometimes Bruun did not know at all what was the legend break on the coin he listed. See for example page 110 and footnotes 200, 207, 210, 213 and many more.
