Question about RIC (Caracalla)
« on: June 19, 2009, 01:25:43 pm »
I suspect the answer may be that RIC is wrong, but... The question is, when did Caracalla reach his 4th consulte, 212AD or 213AD? I thought it was 213AD. However, RIC numbers 490 to 495 (bronzes) show the legend TR P XV (so 212AD), and COS IIII. Looking around, I'm guessing this is a mistake, right? Thanks.

Regards,
Ignasi

Of course!  A misprint I'd never noticed.

Check all of the Cohen numbers cited (always with COS III) and the illustrated As pl. 15.4 (COS III).

Thanks! Yes, you're right. Cohen is of course correct, I should have checked first.
