2021 Gallery of the year!
« on: December 30, 2021, 06:56:26 pm »
Well, nobody has started this thread yet, so I will.

Let's have nominations for gallery of the year!

I will start by nominating orfew's gallery:

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/index.php?cat=41352

Since David Atherton and my own galleries have already won for our Flavian collections, it's only right that Andrew gets nominated for his!  The focus on rare Domitians is invaluable.

Along the theme of notable specialist galleries, I'll nominate Paul "PMah" for his Roman Republican gallery found here:

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=6790

The gallery seems to be well documented and referenced, and while I am not a collector of the Republican era, I appreciate the many fine examples he's amassed for our perusal.

I'll second that.  Pmah's gallery has been useful in understanding my very few Republican coins.

It is a great resource.

Just giving this a little bump. Lots of deserving gallery curators out there, all nominations are welcome, and a handful of nominees would be great.

Hi - not sure what the rules are, and apologies if this nominee has already won in the past, but I really like Anaximander's gallery. To me it's a great combination of diversity, plentiful information and beautiful coins. It's a pleasure to peruse.

Happy New Year! I love browsing through all the galleries! I’m focusing on Byzantine gold coins for this year and already ordered my very first Byzantine gold coin. It’s stuck in an international coin convention in New York but will get delivered to me back in London at the end of the month. However, I’ve wasted no time showcasing the Byzantine gold coin in my gallery. I’m eager to acquire more Byzantine gold coins and will be looking out for them in the FORVM shop.

Great suggestions Joe!

I think Mauseus' galleries on Britanic and Gallic splinter empires are very noteworthy.  And as a Septimius Severus collector myself, I think maridvnvm's work on this emperor, in particular his treatment of Emesa mintage, is second to none on Forum.

Some great suggestions here so far, I'm going ot have a hard time pondering who to vote for.

Great list quadrans! Those are all fantastic galleries.

I will second Maridvnvm’s gallery, I look through this one all the time.

In addition to all those listed by quadrans, I would add Leo’s amazing Taras gallery:

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/index.php?cat=35885

and PYL’s gallery covering the history of France:

There are so many great galleries. Honestly, I have a very hard time selecting just one to nominate. Thanks to the suggestion by Pharsalos, I will nominate Leo's gallery. Fantastic coins.

I would like to nominate Eric's (Okidoki) Hadrian Gallery. He has continually updated his gallery throughout the year with great Hadrians.  I really respect the focus.
