Extremely rare Vespasian Judea sestertius (one of two known)
« on: January 24, 2016, 12:36:16 pm »
Hello everyone.

Vespasian sestertii with left portrait are always rare; the IVDEA CAPTA reverse (missing A on IVDAEA) is also scarce.

The combination with these varieties two was recorded for the first time in RIC last edition, citing one unique specimen from a Nomisma auction of year 1999, not pictured in plates though.

In a recent auction I won that very coin and I'm glad to share it, although it's no longer unique, since another specimen from the same pair of dies has been sold in 2014 in an US auction.

Kind regards

Alberto
