Kingdom of Bosporus, Aspurgos
« on: May 31, 2025, 06:13:04 am »
Now I am studying the coins of the king of Bosporus Aspurgus with the portrait of Gaius Germanicus.
Gaius Germanicus - this is Caligula, isn't it?
Then why does RPC date these coins to the Tiberius period?

Wildwinds assigned one coin with the portrait of Calicula to the period of Tiberius (line 3), and another coin to the period of Caligula (lines 4 and 5).

Caligula was not Tiberius' co-conqueror and successor, and the idea of co-conqueror (Caesar and Augustus) only appeared in the 3rd century AD.
