Arcadius Siliqua - Tom Cederlind Provenance
« on: July 04, 2026, 01:27:29 am »
Hello,
I recently purchased this Arcadius Siliqua, and was pleasantly surprised by not only how much nicer it looked in person, but also that it came with a ticket from Tom Cederlind.  The only problem is that I am relatively new to ancient coin collecting, and so far I have only used online auction databases like ACSeacrh and Ancient Coin Archives to determine the provenance of my coins. In this case I cant seem to find any of Tom Cederlind's fixed price lists online, and I am not even sure what the MBL107 stands for, I assume its something about "Bid/Buy List 107"? Would anyone be able to point me towards, firstly what the code means, and secondly how people generally access these fixed price lists of Tom Cederlind? Thankyou in advance for any help.

I don't think I have ever seen a full set of Tom's "Mail Bid Lists". Of course, Forum sometimes has fairly large blocks of such catalogues.   They are not on the Newman Portal (yet) or rnumis. The ANA Library has them, listed, and members can request access.  ANS probably does as well, but it is not in the online version of the library catalog.  Most of the large dealers, such as Berk in Chicago and CNG in Lancaster, will make their library accessible to known clients by appointment, and I would expect the Cederlind lists to have been retained.  Happy hunting!

I can only add ACSearch shows another coin from Cederlind sale 107, noting the sale date as 10 April 1997. You may get lucky searching eBay images for this sale, or even posting here on Forvm directly asking if anyone has and can check Cederlind sale 107. There are also paid provenance search websites, like coincabinet.io

Wow thankyou to both of you for the great advice and resources. I'll be sure to look and reach out, I do love the provenance aspect of coin collecting, however difficult it sometimes is.
