HAPPY VETERANS DAY!
« on: November 11, 2025, 12:40:55 pm »
Happy U.S. Veterans Day folks!  Top pic is me and my M151A2 I named Maxee in Bamberg FRG.
Second photo is my grandfather’s WWI dog tag and a telegram home notifying the family he was wounded.  He was shot through both legs on 11.11.1918 after the Armistice had been signed but before it took effect at 1100.  He was in the 321st Infantry Regiment of the 161st Infantry Brigade as part of the 81st Infantry (Wildcat, but more accurately Stonewall) Division. His unit was deployed  11.07-11.11 in the area of Moranville on the extreme right flank of the last phase of the Argonne-Meuse operation. He died of circulatory system issues related to his wounds in 1960 44 days before I was born.
Thanks for letting me share this not-so-ancient history and these artifacts.

Great photos and memorabilia. I am sad to hear that you never got to actually see your Grandfather. I have several letters and memorabilia from my own grandfather, who also fought in World War One and I still cherish them.
