Second photo is my grandfather’s WWI
dog tag and a telegram
home notifying the family he was wounded. He was shot through both legs on 11.11.1918 after the Armistice
had been
signed but before it took effect at 1100. He was in the 321st Infantry Regiment of the 161st Infantry Brigade as
part of the 81st Infantry (Wildcat, but more accurately Stonewall) Division.
His unit was deployed 11.07-11.11 in the
area of Moranville on the extreme right flank of the last phase of the Argonne-Meuse operation. He died of circulatory system issues related to
his wounds in 1960 44 days before I was born.
