Chinese coin-amulet-fake
« on: December 10, 2009, 09:22:39 am »
Dear fellow collectors
Once again I ned your expertice to identify some coins.
The first coin is a Han Lin- Long Feng tong bao. Hartill 19.133. It measures 51mm. and weights 45.6 gr. thus far too big. Is it a fake or an amulet ? Why go through all the trouble of making a a fake with wrong measures.
The next three I cant find in Hartill, again.

Regards  A

the first is a fake, probably a fantasy for tourist.

the second seems to be a Kai Yuan Tong Bao but it looks to be iron like Hartill 14.10 p.105, can you confirm it?

the 3rd and 4th looks like fakes but I'm unable to identify them surely.

General style is wrong patina seems to be fake, I have big doubts for them.

Dear leseullunique
Thank you for your quick and accurate reply.
The coin is not iron, but I must agree with you- it seems to be a Kai Yuan.

Warm regards  A.

All low quality fakes except the broken Kai Yuan,

1. LONG FENG (dragon and phoenix) Yuan Dynasty rebellion

3. Wan Nian Tong Bao (10 thousands years)  Earlier Japanese

minted in the fourth year of Tenpyō-hōji ,  (761 AD)  . The reigning empress was Kōken-tennō.

4. Chong Qing  (1212-1213 AD)  Jin Dynasty
