Another Prussian medal.

Well, I know from the date this is Kaiser Wilhelm I, but like the other, thats all. Frankly, I dont even know if this is a medal at all.

It commemorates a military maneuver (test , exercice) of the Prussian or German army of that year.
Probably a gift for participants.

A particularly important military exercise, since it was carried out in the presence of the emperor, if I am understanding the German correctly.

Yes, that's right! And I think there was only one 'Kaisermanöver' each year.

Interesting, since the emperor was eighty-nine years by then! But Wilhelm I, just like his grandson Wilhelm II, was extremely fond of the military - and Friedrich Wilhelm, who came between the two Wilhelms, and who might have steered the empire in a different direction, ruled for only three months in 1888 because he was in the last stage of cancer already. If this had not occurred, then maybe WWI would never have happened? We'll never know.
