Steve P's Sweet Gallery

I will start posting some of my cool coins once I get a free sec (sorry, I didn't realize that your Forvm-Galleries are merely a thread with your name on it!) ... I thought I'd have to be tech-fancy and learn some fancy posting-tricks (sorry for being so slow)

I guess I'll start at the beginning with a cool archaic punch example ...

You can do it by creating a thread, but there is also this https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/

The member's gallery used to have its own tab at the top of the discussion board's home page but now it is hidden in a drop down menu. As you have demonstrated it is not easy to find! I wish it was more prominent.

it is much more than that.
it is a highly detailed (or should be at least), searchable database which is a much overlooked reference, imo.
with some of the coins I've seen in your collection you really should create one, and then link to it at the bottom of your posts. see the links at the bottom of this post for my example...

That Aes Grave, at 36mm and 50g is a weapon, not a coin :-)

Love that elephant too!

Incredible! The double-strike makes the reverse look dramatically different. To me it looks like someone knocking down the columns of a temple!

I have a bunch of pretty cool over-strikes (I love them => they're like two coins in one!!)

... here is another super neat example (it looks like a prow with a snout)

Anonymous. Overstruck Æ Triens
Canusium mint
206-195 BC
Diameter: 20 mm
Weight: 5.88 grams
Obverse: Helmeted head of Minerva right; four pellets above
Reverse: Prow right; [CA] to right, four pellets below
Reference: Crawford 100/3; Sydenham 309c; RBW 450
Other: 12h … VF, brown patina.
From the RBW Collection. Ex Coin Galleries (20 August 1986), lot 117

Overstruck on a “Zeus/man-headed bull” issue of Oiniadai, Akarnania (cf. BCD Akarnania 345-8)

I have also tossed-in the host coin-type (it is kind of fun to figure it out)
