Cast Gold 'Bigfoot' from Ukraine
« on: October 08, 2014, 07:48:16 pm »
Ave,

Well, here's a new one for all to view.

From our contact in Ukraine:

"Celtic/Scythian (?? ) Bigfoot golden man. Authenticity lifetime guaranteed. See photo - UNIQUE THING! It was found in the North of Ukraine - they date it back to II AD. They
say it belongs to Cherniakhov culture. This is all I can say at the moment. Will be making more inquiries."

Does anyone have a clue to what this gold object may be?

Best regards,

Kevin

Ave!

No replies and that's exactly why we didn't purchase it.

Best,

Kevin

Yeah.  Grade A wierd.  There is some odd stuff from the Caucasus - not far from Crimea.  But never seen anything like that.

Ave Shawn!

Exactly. The real problem with such artifacts is that no one has ever seen similar, hence there is no attribution for it. I'm sure that it's authentic, but as there is nothing to compare it to...well, you know, it's nearly impossible to put a price on it.
Best,
Kevin

Ave!

Copper alloy; 5omm/7.7gm

This little guy showed up the other day from a friend and he mentioned that it was from Northern Ukraine.

As seen in the photo, he has a small loop behind his head for suspension. It look very similar to the photos that Quads posted above.

Any thoughts as per use? Decorative/effigy ???

Thanks,

Kevin
