Title: Converting scans to Text
Post by: SVLLAIMP on February 04, 2009, 03:44:58 pm
I was going to try and convert an entry from the scan to text, but I cannot.  The area to the right of the scan where you are supposed to type does not allow typing.  Is this perhaps a browser problem, I use a Mac and browse with Safari, is this not supported?

You are not the first to say that they could not edit with Safari and Mac.  I don't have a Mac to test with.   The Wiki software is not our own and is widely used.  If there is a browser problem (which I think there is), perhaps there will be an update someday that will allow Mac with Safari to work.

Do you have an idea what percentage is converted?

No idea what percentage of the Dictionary of Roman Coins has been typed up but I think most of it is done.

When converting the scanned text should we include the prices realized at the end of some articles?  For example in the Vitellius text it mentions the price in Francs (120 frcs, 150 frcs ect.)  I've been converting all of it but not sure if it is worthwhile...

Oh and how do you get the symbol for British Pounds?

Oh and how do you get the symbol for British Pounds?

In html (that is, using the CODE tab while editing), put £

But what's the use in converting these prices and how are going to convert them?

Well it is in the orginal scanned text so I've been converting it when I copy it out.  I'm not sure what you mean by how it will be done...it simply gets typed out.

Thanks Bill &pounds worked and Galba now has been converted with GBP prices...

I mean what conversion rate do you use to convert these old prices and do you adjust for inflation?
What currencies do you convert it to and why?

Looking at the first post, I see "convert an entry from the scan to text" so that is probably the conversion meant.

Haha, I totally misunderstood that. I couldn't understand why.
