The late Dictator Perpetuum.
Unfortunately, the coin is spoiled by a shock which can be a banker mark.
I would like to see a better one.

It is considered rare, because only about thirty die examples are known. Unfortunately, my example is, apparently, a fourree.  Is it typical for this issue?

Unfortunately, I can’t say anything from any knowledge about the coin, but I do like it.
It’s certainly unlike any other Julius Caesar coin I’ve ever seen as yet…  It has a nice style with interesting reverse and a handsome portrait.  Looks like in original condition (and yours here, too) has nice high-relief features to the portrait.

  Rarity Level: RR
What is ‘RR’ if you please, Numerianus?

  “Really Rare?”  :)
  My best guess! ^

  I like it!

  Cheers!

The rating is RR is not extraordinary but it seems that it high because the major museums
were willing to have this type in their collections.  The cataloge cgb  gives the following
information:

Pour ce type, M. Crawford a relevé une estimation inférieure à trente dies de droit et inférieure à trente-trois coins de revers. Pour ce type, d’après M. Crawford, un unique exemplaire figurait dans le trésor d’Aquileia. Ce denier est infiniment plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages de référence.

Translation:
For this type M. Crawford gives an estimation lower than 30 coins  for the obverse and 33 dies for the reverse.  According to  M. Crawford, only one coin of this kind type  was found in the Aqileia treasure.  This type is much more  rare than one can  conclude from the reference edition.

The last sentence seems to justify the high estimate given by the catalog.

Another example one can see here:

Wildwinds  also  has  an example of this type.

I also think that the image of Julius Caesar on coins of this type is quite interesting (and not ugly as on many coins  of his epoch).

N.B.,  In French, 'coin' means 'die'; a coin is 'une monnaie'.  Similar word in Italian.  P.L.
