Antoninianus of Maximian
« on: August 23, 2013, 11:13:30 am »
I realize that by the year 293 AD the mints had perfected their operations. However, this coin which I recently purchased seems to be too nice; so much so that it makes me wonder.... I just recently moved and my measuring devices are still packed away.
I will certainly appreciate any and all input, as I always do. Thanks!

Too nice is not an indicator that a coin is fake.

No, "too nice" is NEVER an indicator of forgery. There may be some specific aspect of a coin which is more attractive than usual (in one person's opinion) that is an indicator of forgery. If so, that aspect should be identified as the reason the coin is suspect. "Too nice" should NEVER be a reason for posting a coin here for opinions on authenticity.
