Dear FAC

some of you might know that I am working on a Catalogue of Middle Bronzes from Pertinax onwards. The first, very small Volume (Pertinax - Clodius Albinus) has already been published (https://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?topic=95997.0).

For some time now I have collected data for the next part: Septimius Severus. I have created an index of types, concordance and have collected images. I am currently going through this again and have a request to make to the Forvm:

If you have Dupondii or Asses of Septimius Severus - doesn't matter if common, rare or unpublished - please post them here.

You don't need to identify them - just post the image. Even though I searched through FAC and the german numismatikforum, there might be a variant or an image I overlooked (Of course I will not use images without asking for the right to use them - I would ask you of course).

Many thanks in advance.

Of course you can send me a PN or an email if you don't want to post here.

I assume here you are not yet asking for Domna and the boys.  Let me know when you are ready for them.  I have more for them.

The third one below is from the 'Cast in Gaul' bunch.  I no longer have the fifth so the photo here is all there will be from me.  The others are available to be reshot.

Thanks! Yes, I am only looking for coins from Septimius himself.

Salve Gabriel

The 3 Septimius Severus middle bronzes from my collection (with associated descriptions):

- SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS. AE As. Rome, 194 AD.

Obv. L SEPT SEV PERT AVG IMP III Radiate head right
Rev. VIRT AVG TR P II COS II PP SC Virtus standing left, holding Victory and spear.

RIC 674, Cohen 757 (4 F)

- SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS. AE As. Rome, 205-208 (207?) AD.

Obv. SEVERVS PIVS AVG Laureate head right
Rev. VICTORIAE AVGG SC Victory holding whip in biga, galloping to right.

Cohen 714 (6 F)

Preliminary celebration of a victory in Britain before 210? This issue is shared with Caracalla and Geta, on gold, silver and bronze.

Impressive high relief portrait, with a style very close to some Thracian mints. It looks like Severus brought to Rome some superior engravers from there.

Bought from Spink.

- SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS. AE As. Rome, 211 AD.

Obv. SEVERVS PIVS AVG BRIT Laureate head right
Rev. FORT RED PM TR P XIX COS III PP SC Fortuna Redux seated left, holding rudder on globe and cornucopia, wheel under seat.

RIC 810, Cohen 155 (3 F)

These are old pictures, I could take new ones if needed. Additionally, I have an interesting struck unofficial imitation with very good style, but I don't know if this fits your request.

Thank you very much.

@Jérome:
I have been meaning to write to you because of the first coin anyway (I found your gallery on another webiste when searching). And also because you have a smiliar field of collecting. Probably I would be happy to use the first coin for the plates. I will get back to you.

Hi Jan

thank you very much.

I already found your coin and was meaning to ask you to use the image - I will get back to you via PN.

The second coin I know also - it has found its way into my collection :D
