Title: Later Byzantine weight?
Post by: mauseus on April 21, 2021, 03:54:55 pm
Hi,
Just bought a small group of weights (six 1 solidus plus a semissis identified so far). In the group was this cut down class A anonymous follis with a serrated edge (XRIS visible). The weight is 4.1g (to 1 decimal place), could this be a gold histamenon or gold tetarteron weight? Your thoughts appreciated.

Regards,

Mauseus

yes, how interesting.

One nomisma/ of 4.1g. Klaus Weber has a number of these in his reference "late Antiquity Weights".
