OK, just for fun, some questions about your gallery. Post links to your gallery along with the answers.
What is your most viewed coin? Is it your favorite coin? If not, which coin is your favorite?
Which coin are your surprised has so few views?
Which coin have you paid the most to acquire? (Don't tell us prices)
-
My most viewed is my VRBS ROMA & no, it isnt my favorite coin.
Surprised with the least views is probably my Trajan Decius, which I think is a very nice coin overall.
Most expensive was for sure my first roman republic, L. Valerius Flaccus. But its a beauty and was worth every $.

Since I re-styled my tetradrachms gallery my most viewed is palm behind owl New Style , but in reality the Kyme Amazon/Horse tetradrachm would be the leader. It isn't my favourite my last one is because it is the most interesting and it was me who spotted it's potential as a new type of reverse without the "Rudder" symbol and a possible (?) signed coin. It is the coin that is the youngest in my gallery, but I would have thought it would have garnered more interest.
My most expensive..New Style "Bust of helios", which would have been smashed if yesterday's CNG " King Mithradates of Pontus" hadn't realised double my maximum bid. Gnash!
My Romans are truely neglected, but my neice is going to re-photograph all my coins for me soon and my galleries will start afresh.

Most viewed:-
A Vespasian denarius, 215 views. Not my favourite or even in my top 50.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-422 (https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-422)
My personal favourite:-
A Probus from Lugdunum. Though it was tough to pick just one.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-8758 (https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-8758)
I have many coins with relatively low view counts but the following has 20 and for some reason I thought would have had more. An unlisted symbol pair on a Papius, Gryphon type.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-52741 (https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-52741)
The most I paid for a coin is the following Tetradrachm from Kyme :-

This is my most viewed coin. It's also one of my favorites because of the splendid portrait of Vespasianus.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=topn&cat=22618&pos=0
The most I paid for a coin is probably this one from Galba (although it wasn't that expensive for this quality).

My most viewed coin:
Gordian III, antoninianus, RIC 70; 76 views
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-56563
My favorite coin is probably the following, it was also my most expensive (I think. LOL. I would need to double check my records):
Probus, complete circle strikes and full silvering antoninianus, RIC 202
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-63597
The coin I am suprised does not have more views:
My Volusian, antoninianus, RIC 140. I actually find this coin quite splendid and appealing IMO.

What is your most viewed coin?
Caracalla/Mars denarius 65 views and it was a reposted picture too:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-52015
Is it your favorite coin? If not, which coin is your favorite?
I don't know if I have a favorite, kind of asking which is your favorite kid - well, Jake was just in here asking for more gas money, so maybe I have a least favorite kid at the monment! :) Usually, my most recent acquisitions are the favorite. A very cool Zeus Ammon from Thymbra at the moment:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-67135
Which coin are your surprised has so few views?
Probably my Macedonian shield coin from Philidelphia, Lydia - just because the picture itself is kind of neat.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-67217

What is your most viewed coin?
An amazing As of Nero with Victory reverse. My first really good coin I think:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-34044
Is it your favorite coin? If not, which coin is your favorite?
Not my favorite but it is up there. My favorite right now is probably my Brutus with Lictors:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-65030
Which coin are your surprised has so few views?
This Tetradrachm of Nero is so beautiful with Neptune reverse but seems to have been missed by many
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-65144
Which coin have you paid the most to acquire? (Don't tell us prices)
There are a few that are up there. But I think this one is my favorite "expensive" coin ;D Otho Tetradrachm:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-53842
Funny, Antony didn't make the cut on any of the above!
-
What is your most viewed coin? My most viewed is a little hemidrachm of Rhodes, Helios obverse, rose reverse. Over 230 views. It's a charming little coin, but not my favorite.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-34759
Is it your favorite coin? If not, which coin is your favorite?
My current favorite coin is a Chalkidian League tetrobol with Apollo overse, citharra reverse. I love Apollo's portrait on this coin.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-66943
Which coin are your surprised has so few views?
A spiffy little hemiobol from Tanagra.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-61276
Which coin have you paid the most to acquire?
Athens tet.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-66939
Which also doesn't have all that many views....
-
I've been clicking through some of these. There are some really nice coins there. Jay, love the patina on your Nero.
And like you Jay, even though, there were a lot of close seconds, none of my Achaean League coins made the cyut here either.
-
I guess I better buy some more expensive and better Antony's! :o
-
My most viewed coin is my Rex Aretas denarius. It's very nice, and I like the historic relation to Judaea, but it's not my favorite.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-64920
I don't know if I could pick one favorite. Each has qualities and combinations of qualities that appeal to me (historic significance, portrait, condition, style). I like all of my owls published in Van Alfen's article, but this one is my favorite of the 7
[DEAD LINK]
I paid the most for my tribute penny I think: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-66231
I'm surprised about a few with fewer views:
Augusts/Tarpeia Good historic myth from the founding of Rome on a coin of the first emperor: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-66226
Titus with 2 captives. I love the trophy captive reverses of the Flavians. This one is Titus, well centered, well preserved, and has two captives: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-66227
-
What is your most viewed coin?
My Severus Alexander sestertius, 277 278 views so far
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-34591
Is it your favorite coin? If not, which coin is your favorite?
Among my favorites, yes. At least in the top ten.
Today's favorite would be either my Otho denarius :
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-34649
or my Ceasar/elephant denarius
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-34329
Which coin are your surprised has so few views?
My Hadrian drachm from Alexandria. Although the picture does not do it justice, it's a very nicely preserved and patinated coin. Everytime people see it "in person" they seem to be ready to fight to get it
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-34890
Which coin have you paid the most to acquire? (Don't tell us prices)
My Jean II de Bourbon gold "Franc a cheval" which is one of the rarest and most difficult to acquire coin minted in Dombes

None of the above include any of my "most expensive to acquire coins"!!!! Which suggests that I've a poor eye for value I guess. Regarding those with surprisingly fewer views, I am mystified what has driven viewers towards the above list (each of the above have between 250 and 1000 full-size views each) so I can't comment on what people don't find curious.
My favourite coin(s) would have to be reserved for another thread! The above pics do include one of my favourites - the Caesar Mettius denarius, which is one of the nicest I've ever seen. It was not expensive (relatively).
-
Turns out my most viewed is my Germanicus SIGNIS RECEPT DEVICTIS GERM, followed by a much nicer coin, my M Salvius Otho moneyers' ass.

Is the III VIR AAA FF ass on the obverse or the reverse.

Which coin are your surprised has so few views?
This Venus Cloacina. Important architectural reverse. A lovely portrait of Concordia. She appears to be thinking " strange smell coming from behind "

My most viewed coin is this Titus - https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=topn&cat=11162&pos=0 It probably has reached that illustrious position due to the nature of the picture and the fact it has been in my gallery since 2004.
Is it my favorite? I can't pick a favorite but it is in my top 10.
What is my most expensive coin? Well, to be honest this one would be very close -
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-40386

Benito,
That's pretty funny. Now that you mention it, that's exactly what she appears to be thinking.
David,
I don't think I've seen that goatherd reverse before. Definitely made me read the description.

You're hinting that I should have said 'Augustus ass'? All 'moneyers' asses' are of Augustus though; I just specified which moneyer had his name on it.

Not exactly. You did specify the name of the moneyer . I quote " Turns out my most viewed is my Germanicus SIGNIS RECEPT DEVICTIS GERM, followed by a much nicer coin, my M Salvius Otho moneyers' ass." Which led me to ask if the III VIR AAAFF ass was on the obverse or reverse. Only joking :D you should have written AS.

Best pedigree is a nice addition to the stats.
Two old pedigree coins:
(http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5012/5495116720_1ea93d00bc_m.jpg) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ahala_rome/5495116720/)
RRC 146/1 Autronia, ex collection of Algernon Percy, fourth Duke of Northumberland 1847-1865, as catalogued by Admiral Henry Smyth in 1856; this actual coin described, with confirmatory weight, in the catalogue. A very rare coin type.
(http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3558/3351248797_a7afa489ed_m.jpg) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ahala_rome/3351248797/)
RRC 438/1, Servius Sulpicius, ex so-called Gonzaga collection, more likely d'Este collection, from 1500s or 1600s. The remnants of where there was a small eagle on an inlay stamp can be seen on the obverse in front of the face (the inlay having come off over time). I've considered replacing this coin with a better condition example, but there's no call for it as despite some honest wear the design is clear and the historical connections add value.
Text from CNG69
The silver eagle collector's mark found on the obverse of this and a number of other Roman imperial coins has generated much speculation regarding its owner. Originating with Cavedoni (Atti e Memorie Accademia di Scienze, Lettere, ed Arti [1825]), who based his assumptions on an earlier statement of Maffei and the vague assertion of Eckhel, this mark was assigned to the d'Este family, a wealthy and powerful Renaissance family from the Emilia-Romana region of Italy, whose badge included an eagle. Such an attribution contradicted earlier numismatists, including Spanheim (Dissertationes de praestantia et usu Numismatum antiquorum [1717]), who asserted it was the mark of the Gonzagas, the rulers of Mantua, a city with an important ancient Roman connection (it had been the poet Vergil's birthplace). In 1433, the Holy Roman Emperor Sigismund granted Gian Francesco Gonzaga (1395-1444), the first Marquis, with the privilege of new coat-of-arms, which contained an imperial eagle badge. This device was included on the town's silver coinage for the next two centuries.

This ass is ,no doubt, on the reverse of the AS. But it appears that the moneyer Slavius Otho was not the owner of this type of ass.

This is an entertaining and educational thread. I am going to spend quite a bit of time viewing my mates’ responses, but I wanted to join in the action:

The stats in this old thread are quite interesting, for example, quite often members' favourite or most viewed coins have no bearing at all on the coin's value, condition or even the member's main collecting focus.
Although it has been a couple of years since anyone added to this thread I just wondered if anyone else found it interesting and might update their old post or if any of the newer members might like to add their own gallery stats to it.

I find it interesting as well. In my gallery the top three viewed have consistently been the following:
1st, The First 12
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-100059
2nd, Elagabalus aka Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus aka Varius Avitus Bassianus
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-91992
3rd, Galba
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-91050
Most comments:
1st place with 10 comments:
The First 12
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-100059
Tied for second place with 9 comments:
Vespasian with Titus as Caesar (4th most viewed)
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-98231
Vespasian Fourée
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-103021
Most expensive (although perhaps not most valuable) coin? I'm not 100% sure but I imagine it would be either:
Julius Caesar
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-89664
or
Judaea, First Revolt Shekel, Year 2
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-103765
And my favorite? Again, not really sure, but perhaps this denarius. I find the reverse hauntingly beautiful.

I would like to express thanks to Joe for hosting this site and making the gallery freely available for us. I always view my purchases from forum as not only adding great coins to my collection but also helping to keep my gallery up and running!

I see that this hasn't been posted on for almost 4 years, which is a pity, as it looks like a great topic! So, let's see if we can start it up again! ;D +++
What is your most viewed coin? Is it your favorite coin? If not, which coin is your favorite?
My most viewed coin is my unusual antoninianus of Valerian, with a left facing bust. I haven't seen many of these, so I suspect it is also my 'rarest' coin.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-150784
However, this is not my favourite coin; my favourite either has to be my Mariniana antoninianus!
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-151852
Which coin are your surprised has so few views?
Probably my coins of Valerian II (15 views) or my Salonina (5 views). Both are in great shape!
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-151914
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-151913
Which coin have you paid the most to acquire? (Don't tell us prices)
EASILY my Mariniana; it cost me more than 2 times my second most expensive - my Aemilian.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-151852
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-153135
Let's see if we can get this topic going again! +++ +++

A couple of years ago i decided to erase my Forvm gallery with the intent of uploading all of my Arados coins with a black background instead of white. This inevitably meant that all the previous likes and comments were lost.
My most viewed coin is my hemidrachm struck in Arados 119-118 B.C, with Tyche & Prow of galley.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-136075
My favourite coin is this bronze of Arados with great detail.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-135738
Which coin are your surprised has so few views?
This tetradrachm (ex.Byblos) now attributed to Arados.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-138253
Which coin have you paid the most to acquire? (Don't tell us prices)
It would have to be the following coins, but i have paid more for coins not included in my Arados collection. These can be found on my website. https://phoeniciancoins.wordpress.com/
The tetradrachm above.

My current gallery has only been live since February this year, but I've been working hard to shoot my coins well and upload them with nice attributions. Perhaps premature, but I'll play the game :)
What is your most viewed coin? That would be this heavily toned examples of RIC IVa 54 of Septimius Severus. It's actually a rare IMPIIII variant of this type with only one turning up in RD, but I suspect it's mostly viewed for its striking patina.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=167335 (https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=167335)
Is it your favorite coin? No it isn't. I like it, but it's far from my favorite.
If not, which coin is your favorite? Tough to say... likely this RIC IVa 266:

Which coin are your surprised has so few views?
This RIC IVb 319 Orbiana denarius
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=170001 (https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=170001)
Which coin have you paid the most to acquire?
So far, easily it was this RIC IVb 225 Aquilia Severa denarius:
