Hello,

What are your best finds, or personal favorites, in uncleaned coins lots ?

These two, which I got a few years ago. The second one is Constantius by Vetranio.

My favorite find was a Fausta mule with a campgate reverse, in very, very ugly condition; shamefully ugly in fact, but it is a unique coin. I laid out just a couple of bucks for it out of an uncleaned junk box at a local coin store.

Another favorite was a Trajan denarius with a Mars reverse (a common one) that was under a nasty crust. I got it in a Mayadigger lot several years ago. Not a real beauty, but you just don't find a legit denarius in an uncleaned lot every day.

I have some nice Constantine-era bronzes that have cleaned up real nice, a Constantius Chlorus is probably my favorite.

Neither of these are that rare, valuable, or even that nice.  But I am particularily fond of them.  (mainly becuase of their portraits)

My rarest unclean is probably a Vespasian Denarius

First is a Claudius II and Second is a Geta.

My rarest uncleaned finds would be a Hannibalianus, and a Roman commemorative, wolf and twins, with the obverse legend VRBS ROMA BEATA. But the one that will always have a special place for me was a coin in my very first uncleaned lot, an autonomous Tomi with Hermes / flying caduceus, not valuable, just priceless.

I enjoyed finding this Officina Z as a new variant for RIC 40 in a batch of uncleaned a few months ago, Dane posted it in her excel spread under my name, as a new collector it was a enjojable attribution

My best to come out of uncleaned.

I bought this one attributed, but with such a massive amount of green covering it that it deserved to be classified as an uncleaned.

Sid's Latin motto means, "Whatever you say in Latin seems profound."

But what does his Greek motto mean? I'd hate to miss a joke!

"Would you like fries with that?"
I think I used Babelfish to write it, so it's probably not idiomatic Greek.
