Cleaning BD on small bronze Judean coins
« on: November 18, 2016, 02:22:16 pm »
Three of my Judean coins are showing signs of BD, Light green powder that comes off easily, in the past six months.

I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to cure these.

Hk

Hk: Go to [BROKEN LINK REMOVED BY ADMIN] and try the simplest remedy, "distilled water," you find in the Bronze disease article under Collectors' Resources. You will need multiple treatments, and follow the instructions exactly--including the heat treatment at the end.  Best to use a glass container for the soakings.  Distilled water means de-mineralized water.  This treatment is safe, inexpensive, and has worked for me.  If successful, be sure to store your cured coins in a DRY environment. Best, Jim.
