Copper alloy; 54mm x 1 mm / 12.8gm

Upon arrival I believed this object to be a Roman furniture adornment but no longer.
Do to the deep central depression on the piece, 5mm, it would not have met flush with the wood.

Phalera or not? You tell me, please.  :)

Could be a phalerae.  On the small end of the size scale but possible.  The design with thin metal and engraved circles actually makes up most of the baldric phalerae - the think fancy phalerae types are the minority.

But the bulge on the back is a bit odd for a phalerae - at least a baldric one.

Maybe  horse harness one meant to shake and jangle??
