Ancient flans - hot or cold

A little attempt at humour . . .

It looks like Serendipity's above post is showing Hadrian asking this question
about whether flans were struck hot or cold, and Pietas is looking back at him,
raising her arms in exasperation and saying "what? I don't know!".  ;D

I do not know about copper coins, but in Butcher & Ponting, "The Metallurgy of Roman Coinage" there is clear metallurgical evidence of cold striking, especially between pages 134-146.
