Column Problems

Massanutten:
Am having a problem trying to type in the entry for the IMPERIAL SERIES. Hitting 'enter' after a name has been typed drops the cursur two lines and drops the entries in following columns by an equal amount.  I erased what I had started in the first column and managed to get everything back to where it was and then tried to type names across in each column to see if that would help. It did not and looks awful. Help!!!!

*Alex:
I also had this problem. I cured it simply by typing my new stuff on to "microsoft word". Then, when it was completed, cutting and pasting the article over into the Numiswiki section. I found that I had to use "word" anyway with some of the longer sections, using two windows side by side. There is a further advantage in that more accessories (such as the long dash) are also available. To keep it in context with the rest of Numiswiki, the font size is 9 and the typeset is Verdana.
Some of my older work though, still has the gaps  :-[. I (or somebody else) will get round to fixing them eventually.

Sorin Teodor:
Like in Frontpage,
ENTER means NEW PARAGRAPH (< p > in HTML)
and SHIFT+ENTER means NEW LINE (< br > in HTML)
This issue is to be found only when using IE. For FireFox or Netscape ENTER means NEW LINE.

So you may use SHIFT+ENTER

Massanutten:
I am sure that I am just demonstrating my software ignorance, BUT, I tried Sorin's suggestion to drop to a new line by using shift/enter and it worked perfectly. Then I filled in the first column for The Catalogue of the Imperial Series and added five personages to account new space for the late emperors included in the second table.  When I started the second column, I could not get the cursor into position at the top of the column. I tried and tried and cursed the cursor, but nothing seemed to work.  Now, the second column starts about half way down the position of the first column. How do I get what I entered to the top of the column where it should be????
Bob

*Alex:
Well, being nosey, I had a wee look at your problem Bob, and if you are ignorant then so am I. It seems to be impossible to start at the top of any of the empty columns. It looks like Sorin will have to sort out this one.

Alex.
