Beirut Museum Reference Wanted

Beirut National Museum (M. Chehab no. 354)

Beirut AUB Museum (no. 83)

I am looking for images of the above cited coins (tetradrachms of Arados) held by these two museums. Are there publications, online or printed hard copy, for these museums?

only costs $20, however, the postage by registered airmail is about $35 and it is not possible to change the mailing method. I just ordered one. They only accept Mastercard and Visa as payment.

I received my copy a couple of days ago. But could you give more information about the coins you are looking for ? No. 83 in the AUB catalog by Baramki  is an AE of Trajan from Askalon, not a tetradrachm from Arados.

Hi Dane,

I have been advised by another freind who has the AUB book that the coin I was seeking there is not illustrated. I was using Frédérique Duyrat  ‘Arados Hellénistique: Étude historique et monétaire’  (2005), where Coin Number 3206, D35-R151, is cited as "Beyrouth, AUB Museum, no. 83. 29mm"

Pictured below is the coin for which I am seeking a reverse die match. It is Duyrat obverse D35. So far I've been able to rule out Duyrat R146, R147, R148. I have not yet seen images for Duyrat R149, R150, R151.

Phoenicia, Arados. Circa 138/7-44/3 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26mm, 15.23g, 1h). Dated CY 152 (108/7 BC).

I looked on CoinArchives Pro and your coin (your actual coin) is listed twice. No others have the same obv image /rev date combination

First time
CNG Auction 88, Lot 497, 14th Sept 2011.

Second time

None in any of my indexed pdfs.

Thanks for this detailed information and your time to find it. I don't have CoinArchives Pro, only the 'skimpy' version. I'm surprised there are no other coins on that website with this obverse/reverse. Good to know.
