Hi,

Yes, I got it to 76 96 AH (714/5 AD) I think - circled in green. I have a suggestion of Al Basra for the mint - circled in red I think.

Regards,

Mauseus

Hi,

Yes, 96, not 76 (that was my other thought). 70 and 90 are similar.

Cheers,

Mauseus

Not in Al- Bassra .

It is struck  بالتيمرة    struck in  AL-TAYMARA (English written this way)
Over all rare mint , one does not say everyday.

But check the  weight , again  4.3 Grams is too high for Dirham.

Hello
The weight also puzzels me as being bit on the high side. Tested it again after caibration and it looks more lite a bit over 5g. Is this an indication of a false coin ? Better pictures?

Well in this case , I would think about new imitation, and strongly.
I did not like the strange dots ( one in your top first photo under Rassoul , and the ones down ) , but I thought maybe a die thing.

Do you see any stamp , copy , or something  ?

ADDED * :  If you willing really to know , perhaps a little scratch on edges , in diffrent spots , and see if plated.

My point : Inspite that mint comes as  Shaqq  AL-TAYMARA  ( as example for Ab dul Al Malik ) also comes as  AL-TAYMARA, but with this weight 5 Grams
and the word Dirham  clear on the coin - NO WAY-, and forgetting about any poor lettering ( one might think the time did to that Dirham) , with this weight again ,I would have a strong doubt about its  authenticity.

I respect how others think here , but I can not give good news here.

Thanks Sam. My shots was not the very best to begin with and on top of this my weight indication fluctuated. When I   closely look I dont like what I see. Its to evenly worn to my eyes.  I will upload better shots so all can see. My guess is that this will end up as a fake coin report. Good thing, I have contact with the seller and  will get my money back and he will probably stop selling dubious coins :)

Thanks I will, its a great coin! Took your advice and scratch  a bit of the edge. Guess what, its a silver plated gold coin!

Anyway I learned a lot from this thread , fake or nor not.

Well, I say FAKE . Not Authentic.

I do not think that is gold , probably Copper or some sort of mix metal.

Just a way to take advantage of new to the hobby.

For what is worth my friend mauseus , was trying to tell you what this object meant to be, not  authentic or not , he does not collect Arabic Coins.

I too think you probably have a silver plated over yellow bronze coin.

Thanks for submitting the fake coin report but next time, please combine images in to a single file and make only one fake coin report with both images.
