Hi, all. Here is a small lead seal from
Caesarea Maritima. The
obverse looks to me like a
Gorgon, or possibly a lion's
face, depending on the angle of the light. The
reverse reminded me of a Menorah seal posted recently on the
Biblical and
Judaean board, but that explanation does not seem to make sense here because of the
obverse figure, so perhaps it is a tree. Any ideas or parallels would be welcome. Thanks, V-drome
