Może między awersem a rewersem była jakaś impreza w mennicy (wiem, wyjaśnienie dość banalne, ale chyba nie zawsze nieprawdziwe).

Trzeba jednak przyznać, że ich turborumunizm ma większe oparcie w faktach (mocno naciągane, ale jednak jakieś ma) niż to, co wymyślają nasi turbosłowianie.

Taka ciekawostka z Emesy:

Napisy wyglądają jakby wyszły spod jednej ręki, jednak o ile awers udało się zrobić bez błędów, o tyle rewers jest co najmniej cudaczny, tak jakby rzeźbiący stempel nie znał łacińskich liter i próbował je odwzorować. Może przy rewersie zaszło słońce i jako że wzrok już miał nie ten, wyszło ni w pięć ni w dziewięć "FEIICII T EMPOM"? Pozostałe egzemplarze mają zupełnie standardowe "FELICIT[as] TEMPOR[vm]".

Tytułem uzupełnienia do rumuńskich inspiracji Trajanem - takiego zestawu jeszcze nie widziałem :-)



Czego ten biedny Trajan już nie firmował... Tutaj w parze z Michałem Walecznym (hospodarem z końca XVI w., którego załatwił nasz Zamoyski) firmuje jubileusz półwiecza przyłączenia Dobrudży do dacko-rumuńskiej macierzy. Na awersie trzech rumuńskich Hohenzollernów.

New 'coin' added to my gallery:

1791 Liverpool Halfpenny token

The age of wooden sailing ships reached its height under Great Britain around the time this token was struck. The voyages of Captain James Cook were only a couple decades past, and the thrill of new discoveries in the far-flung Pacific and South Sea islands continued to inspire other intrepid explorers. Just a couple years earlier, Captain William Bligh had set sail in the Bounty on his ill-fated voyage to the breadfruit islands. With these voyages of discovery came proportionate leaps in scientific knowledge and advancement, under the brilliant leadership of men like Joseph Banks and later Alexander von Humboldt.

That this token pictures a ship under sail is a fitting tribute to the age, and the fact that it also happens to feature a beautiful deep sea-green patina adds to the charm.
