Is it corrosion and verdigris damaged or is it cast?
« on: July 22, 2017, 10:06:59 am »
I would like help in deciding whether the damage to this coin's surface in corrosion and verdigris or is the surface roughness due to it being a casting.  Thank you in advance for your opinions.  I have posted pictures of the coin with and without green tarnish and a comparison of the coin's surface with a badly pitted greek bronze coin.  They look the same to me.  What differences do you see?

Probably cast; there's a mushiness here that looks ingrained not wear-induced.

The badly corroded bronze coin has a mushy surface like to silver one.  The holes in both are also very irregularly shaped, unlike trapped air bubbles.
