PLEASE HELP ME IDENTIFY GREEK COIN
« on: March 30, 2013, 03:14:50 pm »
I FOUND THIS COIN IN SOME STUFF FROM A TRIP TO THE MED ABOUT 40 YEARS AGO. I CAN'T REMEMBER IF I GOT IT IN GREECE, TURKEY OR ISRAEL. IT IS SILVER, HEAVY AND APPEARS TO BE TETRADRACHM SIZED. THANKS.

If nothing else, all the small round holes give it away. Natural corrosion produces irregular holes.

It's pretending to be a Neapolis type, but did they issue this reverse under Caracalla?

Yes, SNG ANS 6 #989 (tetradrachm). It is a fake of a real coin.
