small coin-like object
« on: December 02, 2009, 04:04:33 pm »
This came in a small lot of seals but is not a seal. I'm completely helpless here,
I have an idea what both sides might show but you can see it just as clearly and I don't want
to put ideas that are probably stupid into anybody's head.

14mm, 2.37g

Thanks

Andreas

I remembered that I've seen such tokens already somewhere, and hooray, I found it again  ;D:

Nine months ago there was a discussion about those tokens in the German forum:
http://www.numismatikforum.de/ftopic25319.html

Following this it is a lead token from Acre (Akko, in todays Israel) issued in the thirteenth century.

Unfortunately I didn't find any other sources in the web :(
