Jewish wars 1st year Shekel?
« on: March 04, 2023, 12:57:27 pm »
Hello I am hoping you might be able to help me determine if this is a fake or not. I didn't pay much so I don't have many expectations but would like to know. I just received it and the finish got my attention and it looks suspiciously similar to the one posted here:

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I haven't weighed it but it is roughly 2mm thick.

It sure looks like it's struck from the same dies as the Fake Reports example you linked. (That one is described as "Struck from modern dies.")

I've never owned a Judaean AR Shekel, so unfortunately my qualifications end at trying to make the die match to a known fake, and I can't judge the "fabric." Maybe someone else can comment if those edges look normal for these types. (Definitely strikes me as unusual for an ancient silver coin.)

Go to the fake coin reports and click upload file in the header. That will open this page....

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/upload.php

It is fairly self explanatory, but if you have questions, ask here. By the way, any member can do the report. The request was for anyone to do, not just you.
