Byzantine Seal of Theodore Bishop 7th Century?
« on: April 08, 2023, 09:32:31 am »
I am working on identifying a nice Byzantine seal.  It measures approximately 26.28 mm and weighs 14.19 g.  On the obverse, there is the Virgin holding the Infant Jesus flanked by crosses.

On the reverse is
ΘΕΟΔ
ΡΟΥΕΠΙ
ϹΚΟΠΟ
Υ
I think that it solves as Θεοδώρου επισκόπου  Seal of Theodore Bishop.  It appears to be 7th/8th Century.  Am I correct?

Yes, reading is correct. Dating likely more 7th than 8th century.
