two-headed Tetricus ant

Am I correct in thinking that this coin is the result of a flip over double strike?

I don't have the coin in hand yet, so I only have the seller's photo to go by, but the reverse doesn't look incuse to me. If it were a brockage, the reverse would be the mirror image of the obverse (i.e. bust facing left, text backwards).

Hi,

I think it is a case of the coin flipping between successive strikes. I don't know of any authentic deliberate double headers like this.

The coin itself does look to come from authentic mint 1 (Trier) dies and the flan crack or striking crack does suggest a second blow. There may be the trace of a reverse type on the lower of the two photos with a deity's head at 9 o'clock?

Regards,

Mauseus

Yes, I agree. It does also appear (as would of course be the case if the coin had flipped over in the die) that the two heads are from the same die.
