Identification of a Mauryan coin
« on: May 22, 2022, 12:10:01 am »
This is an ancient Indian punch marked coin I have. I have identified the 4 symbols. An elephant , a sun , a six armed-symbol and a tree with taurine. But there is a leg like structure in the middle. I have searched the catalogue of symbols but i could not figure out  And mysteriously there is a punch mark at the bottom of the coin which I could not decipher. These coin are supposed to have 5 punch marks. Also it had some greenish brownish deposits which I removed lightly with a dental pick. I removed a little just to make the symbols appear more clearly. They are rock hard and i was able to remove some part after which I decided not to tamper much and leave it as it is. If someone can identify the symbols and the approx. date it would be of great help. Thank you
