Coin backgrounds - black, white, or? What do you prefer and why?

Serendipity:
I use the stock photos of coin dealers as much as possible rather than photograph my own coins. They generally use white backgrounds when showcasing their coins which is why I prefer that colour background. I try to keep the focus on the coin itself even with slabbed coins rather than the plastic slab by using white backgrounds. I strongly dissuade coin collectors from photographing coins with patterned backgrounds for the same reason. They are a distraction. The focus should be on the coin, not the background.
