Zreperowany Licyniusz

Już kiedyś chyba o tym pisałem, ale teraz ten zmyślnie zreperowany Licyniusz został sprzedany.

Tak wyglądał wcześniej (jak po ataku ospy wietrznej) - i wtedy sprzedano go za 2200 euro.


A tak wygląda po kuracji i operacji plastycznej - sprzedany za 6500 euro



Oczywiście pojawiają się tu natychmiast liczne pytania: czy tak wolno?, czy to jest jeszcze autentyczna moneta?, czy nie powinna być sprzedawana wraz z załączonym zdjęciem stanu pierwotnego (nie załączono)?

No niestety, pieniądze które można zarobić na takim procederze potrafią zaślepić i jeszcze nie spotkałem się z przypadkiem, kiedy załączono by do aukcji zdjęcie przed operacją. Tutaj jest to zrobione fachowo, przeróbek praktycznie nie widać i jak ktoś nie śledzi na bieżąco aukcji z tego okresu, może niczego nie zauważyć.

jak ktoś nie śledzi na bieżąco aukcji z tego okresu, może niczego nie zauważyć.

Ale sześć tysięcy euro piechotą nie chodzi, toteż wcześniej ludziom pamięć wracała i trzeba było trochę poczekać. Sprzedaż tego podziubanego to rok 2014. Cztery lata później reperowany się nie sprzedał i trzeba było odczekać kolejne trzy lata aż wreszcie znalazł się ktoś o słabej pamięci.

That's a shame, especially since it's an unlisted type (with spread chlamys). At least there are some parts of the original left that may be useful for research, such as small die break by "S" of "AVGVSTVS".

The work isn't even that well done - big gouge still left in Licinius' eye, and Jupiter with a 100% new huge nose.

Yes, formally this type is unlisted. But have you ever seen SISCIA 21B as described in RIC? Or SISCIA 21A (the only difference is reverse legend break)? The note that reverse is "as no. 21" could be misleading. Maybe only this variety exists.

RIC already attributes these based on legend break for PF AVG (19,21), so this just seems to be more of the same for AVGVSTVS (20,21A,21B). I don't see any reason to suppose they messed up and failed to note the spread chalmys, although I havn't seen the Belgrade coins.

In any case, whether this coin is unique, or there's another in Belgrade, it's rare.
