New Domitian collector
« on: March 06, 2020, 01:22:18 pm »
Hello all,

I am a collector from the Netherlands.  And now collect Roman coins for a number of years.  I recently decided to focus solely on Domitian coins. I do this because I find him interesting as a person.  He is portrayed as bad by the sources, but the sources seem rather biased. I also think his coins are great especially in style.

I have been active here on Forum for a while but have never posted before. Maybe some of you know me from cointalk.

I am curious what you think of my first acquisitions.

I like it here, and maybe I'll post here more often.

I think you will find Domitian's coinage rich and rewarding once you scratch the surface. Are you concentrating on just silver or do you plan a broader approach?

I'm very happy to meet another Domitian collector!

I've focused my collection mostly on Domitian many years ago and I've never regretted it.

I noticed that you started with two excellent denarii; I hope to see some nice bronze too.

Thank you all for the kind responses.

Only silver in the first instance. But I think that after collecting for a while I will also go for bronze. Bronze has more difference in reverses. I hope someday to have a collection that reflects the government of Domitian.
