Question on the name of Maximinus Thrax/Maximinus I
« on: October 31, 2016, 05:04:16 pm »
Hi all,

I have a slightly naive question about Maximinus Thrax. I have one of the Littleton Coin Company Albums to collect all the Roman emperors. They have two slots for Maximinus I (235-238AD) and Maximus (235-238AD). A search on the internet does not reveal anything about this mysterious emperor Maximus. Is this a mistake in the album? Or is there something I am missing about this?

Looking for any info to clear this up.

Thanks!
Tjaart

Maximus was the son of Maximinus I. His father gave him the rank of Caesar and struck coins for him; they are  a little scarce, but readily obtainable in silver and bronze (denarii, sestertii, middle bronzes).
