Seleucid coin
« on: February 13, 2007, 06:17:10 pm »
This is a seleucid coin, but I am uncertain about the ruler.  I believe it is an Antiochus, but not certain which one.  Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

David

Actually it's not Seleukid, it's from Antioch. There is a date in the exergue but on your example it's off the flan. These are early 1st century BC. See SNG Copenhagen 68-69.

The reverse legend reads ANTIOXEWN THS MHTPOPOLEWS.
