Severus Alexander Billon Tetradrachm of Alexandria.
Nilus bust on rev, not Serapis.
I will try to find the refernce.

Hi,

If Nilus as stated by Salem, then it is Hemmet #3122, quite rare, as depending on the regnal year it is between R2 and R5

Regards

Thanks a lot!  There are no doubts that the personification is Nilus with a lotus crown.
The coin seems to be rare indeed: I could not find a single example on the web.
Could you guess the legend?

Hi Numerianus,

The complete identification for this tetradrachm is this one :
Billon Tetradrachm Alexandria ; LB (Year 2 = 222 / 223 CE) of SEVERVS ALEXANDROS
Obv. Bust  of Nilus with cornucopia on the right shoulder :
Geissen 2 410 ; Dattari 4 328 (v) ; BMC 1 668 (v) ; Milne 1 894 (v) ; Curtis 1 083 ; Mionnet  2602 ; Vogt II 126  (and so on) .

(a small correction in the precedent post : read "ALEXANDROS")
Best regards
Smendes

Hi Numerianus,

Rarity quoting is allways a rather difficult thing to do , I think "moderate" (between $ 150 and 200) depending of the state of the coin ... and the country of purchase.

Best regards.
