Heraclea ?
« on: November 01, 2021, 05:36:39 am »
Hi!

I have still a few ones in my collection which I have not been able to define.

Is this from Heraclea? The mint seems to be HTA (TA in monogram) but I could not find with search the mint used with TA monogram so only in HTA form.

Obv: Worn bust
Rev: Horse grazing, K below horse
Size: 18 mm
Weight: 6 g.

I guess I am missing something here? Any help appreciated.

Regards,
Juke

I believe that this is a coin from Pella in Macedonia:
https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=1774564

This type exists from the cities Pella, Thessalonike, Bottiaia and with the name of the Roman quaestor Gaius Publilius. They have different letters and monograms beside and beneath the cow.

Many thanks for showing a similar example and naming the right cities!
