Very nice Alberto. I have one from this rare issue issue as well but it is RIC 738. I am always on the lookout for these.

Thanks Andrew.

This is amazing: I have all the coins of the issue with the exception of 738!

Cheers

Re: Flavian gallery - Titus Felicitas Sestertius

Hello everyone.

In Titus coinage left portrait sestertii are often more common than the right ones, for (at least to me) unknown reasons.

This one makes no exception.

It's the first time I add a coin of this reverse type to my collection and I especially love the Tiber patina, giving it a warm and attractive tone.

A portrait of Titus as Caesar with a lot of personality
« Reply #630 on: November 19, 2019, 01:07:13 pm »
Hello everyone,

today I received this As of Titus struck by the mint of Rome in 77-78 A.D..

As I looked at it, I remembered that David had recently posted a coin struck during the same year, although it was struck in Lugdunum.

I thought I would also share mine, of which I love above all the expressive power of the portrait.

Kind regards

Alberto

Titus and Domitian: two good examples of Flavian portraiture
« Reply #633 on: November 21, 2019, 10:45:06 am »
Hello everyone,

today my friend the postman my postman friend handed me these two coins, which I was eager to receive.

The first one is a sestertius of Titus, indeed a common one, yet I was missing it so far. Titus large bronzes are always stylistically excellent, and this is no exception.

The second is a dupondius struck towards the end of Vespasian reign. It is a substantial improvement on the specimen already in my possession, also enhanced by a very attractive patina. My two coins share the same dies, attesting the rarity of the type.

I wish you'll love them as I do.

Hello everyone,

as many collectors I have a strong preference for huge coins such a sestertii, nonetheless I collect small denominations too.

I find this rare quadrans of Titus as Caesar particularly applealing, showing a warm desert patina.

I thiught I could share it here.

A nice Dupondius of Titus as Caesar
« Reply #642 on: August 24, 2020, 06:40:59 am »
Hello everyone.

I use to share rare coins here, yet I thought i'd make an exception with this juvenile Titus portrait.

The coin is not rare, but it has eye appeal because of patina, centering, reliefs.

I hope you'll like it.

Nice and scarce As of Titus as Caesar
« Reply #646 on: September 04, 2020, 09:09:43 am »
Hello everyone,

I received today this nice middle bronze of Titus as Caesar under Vespasian.

I think it does a nice pair with the dupondius I posted last week, belonging to the same issue of 72 A.D.

It shows a nice portrait wit a pleasant green patina.

A rare pre-reform Domitian Denarius
« Reply #649 on: September 07, 2020, 12:17:33 pm »
Hello everyone.

As the collection grows, it becomes more and more difficult to find missing specimens.

In fact, six months have passed since I bought another Domitian denarius.

I am therefore very pleased to have won this pretty little coin in a recent auction and to share it here.
