Antioch Pisidia Rooster Date?
« on: August 22, 2012, 04:30:23 pm »
This coin is listed as Antioch, Pisidia, but I have not seen the type with Hermes facing right / rooster standing left, in the on-line references.
There also seems to be a wide range of dates for the coin, from 1st cent BCE to 2nd Cent CE.  Any latest ideas and references
for this coin would be appreciated.
Thanks, V-Drome

Krzyzanowska lists a series of coins of this size from Antoninius Pius's reign. Will take a minute and see if I can find a possible die match.

Hi.  I just noticed some wonderful recent additions to Forum's catalog of coins from Antioch Pisidia, with obverse deity and reverse rooster.  I thought I would bump this topic to see if there is any new reference to my variation of Hermes/Rooster (standing left).  Thanks! Jimi

Hi, all.  I wanted to bump this topic one more time to see if anything new has come up with regard to a reference.  Can I assume that this is unpublished?  cf. BMC 1 and SNG Copenhagen 17, and SNG France 1068/9/or 7.  The variation here is Hermes, bust right, and Rooster standing left.

Thanks, Jimi
