Don't tell me that one went unnoticed on eBay?!
Ben
Actually, it went half-noticed. Some people saw that it was no very usual coin and bid on it, but certainly no
Constantine specialist saw it, or else he would have laughed heartily about my high bid of some thirty Euros. I got it for twenty-four Euros including postage, so I can well live with the
obverse damage. Actually, it is clearly no
flan fault, no minting error and no corrosion, but the coin's
obverse must have been hit by something hard and irregular from above, with its
reverse lying on a rather even surface. I imagine that it happened when the coin lay on a worn-flat cobblestone in the street and was stepped on by a
horse with its horseshoe.
